Clemson Swing/Shag Dances

These are in the Palmetto Ballroom in the Student Union Building on the Main floor to the left of the Canteen. (just ask anyone where Chic-fil-a is)

Dates for Fall 2008 COMING SOON

7:30-8pm beginner lesson - $3 cover
8pm - until - dancing to a mix of Swing and Carolina Shag favorites.

Dances are open to all ages and are usually attended by 40-60 people with 8-14 taking the beginner lesson. We rotate during the lesson so feel free to come solo or with a couple of friends and we will take care of getting you a partner or two for the lesson. Even if you know how to dance the lesson is a great way to meet others and help them pick up the material quicker. This is a laid back fun evening so feel free to come dressed comfortable.

Each semester over 120 students take Beg-Adv Swing & Shag classes for credit in the Leisure Skills Dept.

These students will be joining you on the dance floor so you'll see plenty of fancy smooth Shaggin' footwork and some jumpin and kicking jitterbug swing steps.

I'm warning you will see some of the best dancing in the upstate!!!!

When you see something you like don't be shy about asking them to share a move or two with you but do me a favor and let them get some dance time in too.

We rotate the music tempos every 2-3 songs between classic Beach and up-tempo Swing tunes.

You are invited to request danceable tunes and if they are a hit or if they tank you get the credit :) We always get a little crazy and more daring with music selection toward the end of the dances.

PARKING & DIRECTIONS

From 93 take a left on Williamson Rd on campus and another left on Klugh Ave at Fike rec building. After a sharp right take the next left toward the Parking Services building take a right in to the timed parking spaces. I'm also told you can park in the Green spaces after 6pm.

Walk through the Parking Services building Edgars is in court yard on the right
