Clemson Swing/Shag Dances

YES we are still dancing in Clemson every week during the Spring & Fall Semesters, well ok NOT spring break :) The dances are now every week on Monday 9pm – midnight, right in the middle of Downtown Clemson only a block away from the parking garage right next to Tiger Town Tavern.

9:00pm – midnight — Swing & Carolina Shag favorites
$5 cover  |  $3 with Student ID

Dances are open to all ages and are usually attended by 60–100 people. Feel free to come solo or with a couple of friends and don't be shy about asking others to dance. Even if you know how to dance please remember what it was like your first time and ask beginners to dance; this is a great way to meet others and help them pick up the material quicker. This is a laid back fun evening so feel free to come dressed comfortable.

Each semester over 200 students take Beg–Adv Swing & Shag classes for credit in the Leisure Skills Dept. These students will be joining you on the dance floor so you'll see plenty of fancy smooth Shaggin' footwork and some jumpin' and kicking jitterbug swing steps. I'm warning you, you will see some of the best dancing in the upstate!

When you see something you like don't be shy about asking them to share a move or two. We rotate the music tempos every 2–3 songs between classic Beach and up-tempo Swing tunes. You are invited to request danceable tunes — if they're a hit or if they tank you get the credit. :) We always get a little crazy and more daring with music selection toward the end of the dances.
