If at all possible wear leather sole shoes it will make a huge difference in how you dance.

In Oct many of you got a taste of sweet, smooth delicious hardwoods and we are taking you back to fill your appetite one weekend a month from now until the Summer. This place has often been called my "Secret hiding place" because it is a bit of a challenge to find. However if you are a diehard jitterbug who loves vintage swing sounds and smooth hardwood floors under your feet, I promise you'll find the box of gold at the end of the treasure hunt.

The treasure you'll enjoy is a rich, cozy dance room. Imagine a huge parlor in a historic Charleston mansion and you'll be on the right track.

Behind door #2 for aspiring dance addicts.... The super smooth vintage hardwood floors from 1943 perfect for slipping & sliding smooth footwork and multiple spins...are you up to three rotations yet :)

This last little nugget will be ever changing so make sure you hit the beginner lessons this Tuesday night. The lessons will be different ideas you can add to your basics. These ideas will range form the very easy to those requiring some practice before you can execute them with ease.

The tunes we are playing lean a bit toward the vintage sounds of 30's-40's but many of the recording are of modern day bands. I'll also play a wider selection of tempos for new Lindy Hoppers who are getting the hang of super smooth Swingouts.

As always we take song requests, so let us know your favorite song, musician, singer or mood. We love people who bring us new danceable discoveries.

I can't wait for you to step foot on these floors that have been shined and smoothed over the past 50 years.

Alright Jitterbugs let's JAM.

WHAT IS A JITTERBUG?

I tend to use it as a Verb.

Jitterbug can be used as a noun to refer to a swing dancer or various types of swing dances, e.g., Lindy Hop[1], Jive and East Coast Swing. This has led to confusion within the dance community since jitterbug can refer to different swing dances. It can also be used as a verb to mean someone dancing to swing music. For example, "People were top-notch jitterbugging, jumping around, cutting loose and going crazy".[2]
